The Cobalt Captain
The Cobalt Captain is a men's lace-up ankle boot in navy suede, with a polished black leather toe cap and heel.
THE FORM
The Cobalt Captain is a men's lace-up ankle boot that rises just above the ankle. It laces high through a row of metal eyelets, and a pull tab at the back helps it on. The almond toe is capped, so the boot reads as dressed rather than rugged.
THE MATERIAL
Two genuine leathers meet on this boot. The body is navy suede, soft and matt, a deep blue that shifts with the light. The toe cap and the heel are smooth black leather, polished to a shine: they frame the suede and take the knocks at the front and the back.
THE DETAIL
The line where black meets navy runs straight across the toe, like the cap of an oxford. A mustard-yellow leather lining shows at the collar. The rubber sole grips polished floors and wet pavements and keeps the boot quiet underfoot, and a low heel keeps the stance level.
THE FIT
Most customers take their usual European size. Between sizes, take the lower for a snug instep and the higher for a wider foot. It comes in European sizes 40 to 46, and we answer sizing questions on WhatsApp before you order.
THE OCCASION
Wear it with dark denim, chinos or grey tailored trousers for dinners, travel and cool harmattan mornings, or with a navy suit when a lace-up shoe feels too plain. Navy sits easily with white, grey, camel and black.
